Well the DVD of the first six months is done. I took the video we shot, some pics and special items we have like the UGA certificates and the White House birth notes and pout them all together into a DVD movie.
I found that in the process that we needed to upgrade our camera, which we have now done. Also in building the DVD, I now know I have to do some more practice before I build the next DVD.
If any family or friends would like a DVD, please drop me an email and I will ship one out to you. If you get a DVD, it may or may not act like a normal DVD as that was one of the issues I had in building the menus. Hopefully I will have that worked out by the time I build the next one.
This is the story of the Ashley Twins. This will start at around 21 weeks into the pregnancy. And my goal is to update weekly, could be more could be less. Because daddy has to earn a paycheck.

UGA research study
Well the girls got invited back to do another UGA research study at the Infant Attention Lab. Last time Harlan was the trooper and did well and Lanier was really not into the whole thing. This time Harlan was upset and Lanier did as best she could.
They had to sit in front of a TV and watch some images, they were focusing on eye movements, but after 5 minutes or so, Lanier got bored, while Harlan just got upset. So again we have a reversal of roles.

Ok sorry for the lack of updates
Well its been a wild month, computer crashes, video editing and baby time, plus work, so I haven't made it around to updating this lately. Well he is a recap of the last month.
- We have started trying to give them rice cereal. It seems that Harlan is taking to it more than Lanier, but then again, the first time we tried it, Lanier really liked it. So not sure what's up with that.
- Lanier has now switched places with Harlan, Lanier is now the one wanting to be held 24/7, while Harlan is into her routine a little be better.
- Tomorrow is our 6 month baby checkup. More shots for the babies. Ouch
- I'm going to look for a place where I can upload baby videos for those that want to watch. I have edited, but will be re-editing after my computer crash the 0-6 month video. Turns out we thought we had a good video camcorders, but once it is uploaded to DVD it did not meet our standards, so we will be starting their 6 month birthday with a new camcorders.
- Once I have a site for the videos, scaled down from DVD length, I will post a link here.
- Harlan is a flipping baby, all she wants to do is flip from back to stomach, although she can't go from stomach to back. Lanier on the other hand, has some issues going from back to stomach, but no issues really going the other way.
- Both babies are very interested in the balls we got for them. They have rattles and ribbon and they really like to try and grab those. Altoough the one with the ribbon we will have to watch to make sure it doesn't come off.
More tomorrow after the babies check up. Also we have some new pics that I need to upload.

New food for the babies
Well we have finally gotten around to breaking out the rice ceral to see how they like it. Almost all the books and doctors and family and friends have said they will try to push it out, not because of taste but because of the texture.
Well again we have 2 different babies. Lanier seemed to really like it. We had planned on only giving them about 4 baby sppons full of the mixture. Lanier had other ideas and ended up with like 8. She didn't try to push it out, but seemed to gum it and swallow and want more. Harlan on the other hand did the push out over and over. On the last try she did gum it a bit and swallow it, but seemed to do that just to humor us.
We'll try again this evening and a little more each day. After they get the hang of it, we'll bust out some baby veggies.

4 month checkup - update
Mommy pointed out that I did not include the percentiles of the babies when I posted their sizes. So I thought I would go ahead and add them now.
Harlan - 12lbs 10.6ozs (30%), 22 7/8 inches long (estimates), 15 3/4 inches head (30%)
Lanier - 13lbs 11.9ozs (50%), 24 1/8 inches long (estimates), 16 inches head (50%)
We did not include the length, because that is just estimates because all they are really looking for is normal growth. If the baby doesn't want to be measured then the baby draws up their legs and it makes it hard to get a good length.

UGA study
The girls got to take part in a baby study at the university this week. The study was to see how visual attention develops in babies. This involved them watching babies on a TV and then a little playtime. We thought that this was a neat study and decided to take part.
One of the grad students will be doing a study on babies that are 6 months, so if she has her study ready she said she would give us a call to take part in that one.
After the study was done we found out there are really two types of babies, one that can sooth themselves when the playing stops and one that gets upset. We have both. Although Harlan was the calm one and Lanier was the one that got upset. Which is almost the opposite then what we see at home.

Babies 4 month visit
Well the girls went to their 4 month visit this week. So needless to say they were unhappy for a moment when they got their shots. Mommy doesn't do the shots real well so I have to help hold them down. But so far they haven't associated me and shots, because as soon as they are done, I hold them until they stop crying, then hand them off to mommy so that I can do the next one.
The doc says they are looking good and that we can start thinking about introducing rice cereal over the next few weeks and then move on to the veggies.
This is how they came in on the sizes
Harlan - 12lbs 10.6ozs, 22 7/8 inches long (estimates), 15 3/4 inches head
Lanier - 13lbs 11.9ozs, 24 1/8 inches long (estimates), 16 inches head
